120,000,000 iOS Devices – What’s That Mean?

Steve Jobs announced the other day that there were 120 MILLION devices running Apple’s iOS — iPods, iPhones, iPads.  That sounds like a lot!  He also jabbed at Google’s activation rate number, implying that they were still the fastest growing mobile OS.  Whatever.  What’s the context of this claim?  Wikipedia compare OS market share with this great graph:

Market Share By OS

Cool, eh?  There’s still a long way to go before iOS competes with Windows, but as more and more devices go mobile, who knows what the future will hold?  I just wish the graph included Google’s Android OS.  It appears that Android is about 1/4 the size of iOS right now, but gaining quickly.  We’ll see.
