Come On, PlayOn, Fix Fast Forward

PlayOn, the software that allows you to stream videos to you Wii, XBox, and PS3, has a serious flaw — fast forward sucks.  And here’s what the site says about it: This is a tricky problem. Online realtime streams can only of course be downloaded as fast as your broadband connection and the content provider [...]

ispotastory.com: Is Copying Digg Really The Next Big Thing?

Honestly, I don’t really get this.  It’s been 5 years since Digg was founded.  It’s been 4 years since Time Magazine declared user generated content its person of the year.  The web has Reddit, Yahoo Buzz, SlashDot, Mixx, etc. and local clones like the Windy Citizen.  What’s going on?  Does the web really need ispotastory.com?  [...]

Super Bowl Update: No Word On Boost Mobile Android Phone … Yet

Rumor was that the Boost Mobile shuffle commercial would introduce a new Google Android phone in the line-up — the Opus One.  Didn’t happen.  Will they have another commercial?  One can hope.  $50 monthly unlimited would be pretty tempting.

User Generated Traffic Is The Next Big Thing

Back in the old days of the internet, forums reigned supreme.  There were forums for gamers, forums for musicians, and forums for fetishes.  As the internet grew, you could converse with people from around the world that shared your interests. Before the internet, you had to work to find people interested in your hobbies.  You [...]

Apple Rumors: Steve Jobs Replaced with iJobs CEO Bot!

I tried my hand at an Apple Rumor the other day. Got mediocre traffic. Maybe it wasn’t crazy enough. So how about this: Wednesday, Steve Jobs will introduce his replacement CEO / President of Apple, Inc. — iJobs. iJobs is a CEO robot that wears New Balance shoes and black mock turtlenecks.  He is very [...]

The Cheapest iPhone … Ever — What I’m Doing While I Wait For A Prepaid Android Mobile Phone

Apple’s iPhone … the most expensive $99 you’ll ever spend (the true cost is over $2,000, amigos).  I’ve avoided it, because it’s just not worth it for me.  I don’t need to be THAT connected, don’t think the thing will boost my social standing, and have no real NEED for the app store (translation: my [...]

The Great Viral Content Experiment Featuring Blake Lively’s SNL Dance

Just over a week ago, I was watching Saturday Night Live and I caught Blake Lively doing a gyrating dance and promptly dozed off on the couch.  I stumbled to bed and awoke the next morning with an idea: I would create viral content intentionally and see if it drove traffic to my blog.  Could [...]

Digg Shrugs, Confuses; Reddit Ramps Up

Today was the first day without a Digg button featured on the site, and, of course, Digg traffic went through the roof thanks to this post.  Wait.  What?  How?  You’re kidding? No, not kidding, and I don’t really get it.  However, it points to the absolutely baffling structure within Digg — it’s not what you [...]

Digg Is Dead; Long Live Reddit

Digg is just a little too incestuous.  Or is it just that it’s so full of itself?  Not sure, but it’s no fun anymore.  I rarely find anything worth reading anymore when I visit.  And it’s almost worthless to post there.  There’s just so much … shit. Which brings me to Reddit.  We pulled the [...]
